Yes, LED bulbs are designed to fit pre-LED light fittings by using the same fitment types as traditional bulbs. Therefore, they can be used as a direct, energy efficient replacement for traditional halogen and incandescent bulbs. However, it’s important to remember if you use a dimmer, not all LED bulbs are dimmable, so this is something you’ll have to consider. If you have any questions about making the switch to LED, feel free to call our expert customer service team for more information on 0121 733 7770.
Basically this is a shade which attaches to your existing ceiling rose and lamp holder, without any need for electrical work. Making sure the light is switched off, you simple remove the bulb from the light and remove the bezel that is normally attached to the light fitting (it's the ring that screws to the light fitting which holds the pendant/shade in place). You can then insert the non-electric light pendant to the light fitting and then screw the bezel/ring back into place. Non-electric pendants are an easy and cost effective way to get a new look for your room without having to call in an electrician.
Yes. Any individual switched fitting can be used on a mains wall switch connection. You can use the light fitting by switching on and off on either switch which is especially handy for bedside lights. Alternatively, if it is a light fitting you like but don't need the switched function, then simply leave the switch to 'on' and operate from the mains switch. Pull cord switches can also be easily removed by a qualified electrician if you wish to only operate the mains switch (but please remember this may invalidate the warranty of the item).
Your bathroom lights need to have the relevant protection because bathrooms contain high amounts of moisture and water is present because of this it is important to understand the rating by which bathroom lights are classified. IP ratings stands for 'Ingress Protection' and is always followed by two characters. The numbers which follow the IP refer to the level of protection so it’s important you choose fittings with the correct rating according to where they are to be situated in your bathroom.
There are four main zones in a bathroom (a “bathroom” classing as any room with a bath or shower); zone 0, zone 1, zone 2 and zone 3.
Zone 0 is any light which is going to be immersed in water; any fitting used in the zone must be at least IP67 rated, however, we would always recommend you speak to a qualified electrician, as immersions at different depths can require different IP ratings.
Zone 1 is the area directly above a bath or shower and for this, you must use at least an IP65 rated fitting. This usually comes in the form of a downlight, as this is the best and safest sealed unit.
Zone 2 is an area stretching outside the perimeter of the bath or shower and in this zone an IP rating of IP44 is required.
Zone 3 is usually used in larger bathrooms, and IP20 rated fittings can be used, but our recommendation would be to use IP44 rated fittings as a minimum in any part of your bathroom.
If at all in doubt it is always our advice to ask an electrician.

Most of our light fittings do not come complete with light bulbs, however some units do come complete and this will be stated on the page of the light fitting. If a light fitting is integral LED, this means that the item has an integral LED module that is designed to last the life time of the fitting and does not need to be purchased separately. You can also easily find any light bulb by looking at out shop by light bulb page.
